Principal Investigator

Guangzhong Dong
Professor, School of Intelligence Science and Engineering
I am a Professor in the School of Intelligence Science and Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen (HITsz), where I currently serve as Deputy Director of Digital Intelligent Battery Lab. Prior to the current position, I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at City University of Hong Kong (CityU), Chalmers University of Technology (CTU), Nanyang University of Technology (NTU) from 2018 to 2021. I received the B. Eng. and the Ph. D in Automation from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2013 and 2018, respectively. Prof. Dong Dr. Dong is a recipient of the 2018 President Prize of Chinese Academy of Sciences for Special Ph.D. Graduates, and is a Young Scholar of the Pearl River Talent Program (Guangdong Province).
My research interests include systems engineering, artificial intelligence, and data science and their applications in the field of full lifespan sustainable usage of lithium-ion batteries. Here is my HITsz personal homepage, ResearchGate, and Google Scholar Profile.

Co-Principal Investigator

Dr. Li Sun (孙丽) received the B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees in electrical engineering from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China, in 2013 and 2016, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, in 2019. After that she worked as a Research Fellow with the University of Warwick, U.K., until 2021. She is currently an Associate Professor in Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, China.
Her current research interests focus on the power system stability and control, advanced grid connected technology of renewables, machine learning and intelligent tools for microgrid operation. Dr Sun was a recipient of the Hong Kong Ph.D. Fellowship for Special Ph.D. Graduates.

Ph.D. Candidates (2)

Ziheng Li (李梓衡) received his M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University, Shenyang, China, in 2024. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Control Engineering at the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, China. His research interests include the cascade utilization of retired batteries, data value mining across the full life cycle of batteries, and intelligent battery management.

Haonan Chen(陈浩楠) received a B.S. degree in automation from Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), Shenzhen, China, in 2023. He is interested in combining statistics machine learning with deep learning methods to solve problems in the energy storage area. He is currently focusing on state estimation and fault diagnosis for battery prognostics and health management.

Yunhao Chen(陈运豪) received the B.Eng. degree in Energy and Power Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, in 2022. He is currently working toward the M.Eng. degree in control engineering with the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, China. His research interests include optimal control and battery management system such as model predictive control, thermal management system.

Daren Chen(陈达任) received the B.Eng. degree in automation from Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, China, in 2024, where he is currently pursuing the M. Eng. degree. His research interests include battery management system, such as battery modeling, state estimation, and battery temperature.

He is particularly interested in enhancing the safety and efficiency of these systems through advanced algorithmic approaches

She is currently working toward the M.Eng. degree in electronic information(control engineering)with the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, China.Her research interests include modeling, state estimation, and data analysis of Li-ion batteries.
